How to Improve Your Drawing Skills in 30 Days

August 11, 2026 · 6 min read

Can you noticeably improve your drawing in 30 days? Yes - if you draw every day, practice the right things, and get feedback. This plan combines all three. It is built around Draw Rumble's daily challenge because the challenge gives you a prompt, a deadline and community votes every single day.

Week 1: Build the habit

Your only goal this week is to draw every day. Use the daily prompt at drawrumble.com and submit before the deadline. Keep drawings to 15-30 minutes. Do not judge quality yet - the habit comes first.

Week 2: Add fundamentals

Keep the daily challenge, and add 10 minutes of fundamentals before each drawing: lines and circles, boxes in perspective, or quick gesture sketches. Free resources like Drawabox and Quickposes are perfect for this. Fundamentals are the boring secret behind every impressive drawing.

Week 3: Study the winners

When voting opens, study the top drawings from the previous day. Pick one and copy it loosely - not to post, but to learn. Ask what makes it work: strong shapes, confident lines, clever composition. Copying to learn is one of the oldest and most effective training methods.

Week 4: Push your comfort zone

This week, deliberately draw things you find hard: hands, perspective, animals, backgrounds. The daily prompt will sometimes hand you these anyway - embrace it. Compare your first drawing of the month with your latest. The difference will be visible.

The rules that make it work

Three rules keep this plan honest. First, never miss two days in a row - one missed day is a slip, two is a habit. Second, submit every drawing; the deadline is your accountability. Third, vote every day; studying other artists is practice too.

Thirty days from now you will be a better artist than you are today - if you start. The next prompt appears at midnight UTC. See you at the challenge.
